AEK – International Regulatory Conference 2025

At the invitation of the Agency for Electronic Communications, NEXT-EM dooel attended the International Regulatory Conference which was held from 19 to 21 May 2025. at the Hotel Aleksandar Palace in Skopje. For eleven years in a row, AEK has been organizing the International Regulatory Conference, in cooperation with the International Telecommunication Union, in order to stimulate public debate on issues related to the latest technological developments in the ICT sector, through the exchange of opinions, solutions to possible problems, best practices and experiences. This conference was opened by the Director of the Agency for Electronic Communications, Mr. Jeton Akiku. This year, AEC celebrates a triple jubilee: 25 years since the establishment of the Telecommunications Authority – a body within the Ministry of Transport and Communications, then 20 years since the establishment of the Agency for Electronic Communications as an independent, non-profit and independent regulatory body with public powers established by law, and 160 years since the existence of the International Telecommunication Union. The title of the conference “Using Technology for a Digital Future” with topics discussed in 4 sessions on spectrum management and cybersecurity, emphasizing regional cooperation, priorities and strategies for enabling a safe cyberspace, mapping digital infrastructures for bridging and connectivity both in Europe and beyond, and new approaches to regulatory frameworks faced by new technologies. Prominent
figures from Macedonian and international institutions were invited, including regulatory bodies, operators, other companies, as well as key figures in the Macedonian and global electronic communications market. NEXT-EM dooel also actively participated.
