Through non-discrimination to equal opportunities

At the invitation of the National Convention on the EU in the Republic of Macedonia, NEXT-EM participated in the debate “Through Non-Discrimination to Equal Opportunities: European Legislation and National Policies and Practices”. The debate was held on Tuesday, February 19, 2019, from 9 am in the Club of Members of Parliament, Skopje.

Experts from Macedonia and Slovakia at the debate presented their knowledge and practices in the fight against discrimination, which significantly limits the potentials of a society and prevents the exercise of the fundamental rights of individuals as members of certain groups. The fight against discrimination based on ethnic or racial origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation, mental or physical disability, political beliefs or party affiliation is an extremely important area in Chapter 19 dedicated to social policy and employment in pre-accession negotiations with the EU.
