Conference E-Society.mk - Cyber Resilience for Freedom and Security

The Foundation for Internet and Society, Metamorphosis organized the international conference “E-Society.mk” for the 18th time. The conference was held on December 6-7, 2022. in the “Marriot” hotel in Skopje, but also online on the Zoom platform, where NEXT-EM also had its presence. The conference began with speeches by the ambassadors of the EU, David Geer, of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Dirk Jan Kop, and of the United Kingdom, Matthew Lawson. Executive Director Bardil Jashari also addressed the opening, and instead of the Minister of Defense, the State Secretary, Vladimir Anchev, participated in the conference, as well as Deputy Prime Minister Slavica Grkovska was also present through a video address. The e-Society.mk conference is always organized on topics that the Metamorphosis Foundation considers to be important and priority in order to find common solutions for them, this time with the extremely current topic of Cyber resilience for freedom and security. Representatives of institutions from Europe, from our country, civil society and legal experts attended and spoke at the conference. The conference discussed privacy and security in the digital age, as well as fostering and nurturing a cyber-resilient society. These topics were discussed through panel discussions on the digital transformation of public administration and societies in the countries of the Western Balkans, respect for human rights in the online space, cyber security, surveillance and biometric data processing, privacy, as well as online activism and overcoming the gender gap. to cyber security professionals. The fight against disinformation in times of war, disinformation as a security threat to democracy, and the effects of disinformation and foreign malign influences on democracy were also discussed.
